First Thursday

The First Thursday Speaker Series occurs on the first Thursday of most months. It showcases a different speaker and topic each time. The program takes place at 7:00 pm at the Cowlitz County Historical Museum, unless otherwise noted. Admission is free.

Please check back for an updated schedule.

Winterfest

Winterfest highlights holiday traditions with activities, crafts, and much more! The Storytellers Network’s and The Lower Columbia Woodcarvers always share their holiday tales and wonderful carvings with visitors, but each year has a little something new to enjoy at the Museum! Winterfest is a free, open house for families the first weekend of December.

Squirrel Fest

Since 2011, Longview has celebrated the annual Squirrel Fest during the month of August and the Museum began making our appearance with a booth in 2018. We’ve had a case of Back Room Oddities for those who stopped by our table to enjoy, including parts from the original Nutty Narrows Bridge and the Nutty Narrows peanut bag that was featured on “Mysteries at the Museum” season 19, episode 13. We have handouts about the Museum, free Quarterlies to give away, and a children’s activity where kids color and make a “squirrel cross the bridge” craft. Next Squirrel Fest, be sure to come by our booth and check out all the fun!

Cowlitz County Fair

Join us at the fair! We are located at the Bush Cabin and have fun activities, crafts, and stories. Try walking on stilts or pumping water the old fashioned way!

…And don’t forget to leave room for pie! We always have a pie eating contest and you are welcome to join in!
